- Why is this issue of contemporary significance? Briefly explain why people today still feel invested in this issue today.
- Why is this issue of historical significance? Briefly explain why this issue is worth exploring in purely historical terms and be sure to note the major questions that might remain open to investigation.
- What is the key question you hope to explore in this paper?
- Continue research, now with an emphasis on your annotated bibliography.

- Due by start of class: Checkpoint #3: Outline.
- During class, you will:
- Conference with Mr. Hall on your outline.
- Target your remaining research weaknesses from your Annotated Bibliography and your Outline (checkpoints #2 and #4) and continue to locate and take notes on sources in preparation for the post-Thanksgiving holiday deadlines.
- Begin to work on your supplemental pages (checkpoint #4) due Friday.
